A powerful premiere

The German watch manufacture A. Lange & Söhne marks the successful first participation as the main partner of the prestigious Audrain Newport Concours d'Elegance.

This contest for classic and rare cars was held on October 1st, 2023 at The Breakers in Newport, Rhode Island during the Audrain Newport Concours & Motor Week – a four-day celebration of automotive excellence, luxury, and sport spanning from September 28 to October 1, 2023. The partnership between A. Lange & Söhne and the event signifies the harmonious marriage of two worlds celebrated for their commitment to precision engineering and timelessness: watchmaking artistry and automotive excellence.

As main partner, A. Lange & Söhne curated exclusive experiences for attendees at the Audrain Newport Concours d'Elegance, allowing guests to explore and discover the meticulous craftsmanship and intricate mechanisms that define A. Lange & Söhne timepieces. In several categories, A. Lange & Söhne awarded winners with certificates decorated with a hand-engraved balance cock: 30/30 Pre-1965, 30/30 1960s and 1970s, 30/30 1980s and 1990s, Timeless Luxury Award, and Best of Show. The Duesenberg SJ (Supercharged) from The Nethercutt Collection, owned by Helen & Jack Nethercutt, won the Timeless Luxury Award for its unparalleled elegance and performance. A Delage D8-120 'de Villars' owned by Fritz Burkard took home the trophy for this year's Concours d'Elegance's 'Best of Show'.

"We are immensely proud that the first step of our partnership has turned out to be such a milestone," said Wilhelm Schmid, CEO at A. Lange & Söhne. "It has been an honour to be part of this extraordinary gathering and to be immersed in the community of Newport. We look forward to continuing this partnership, celebrating precision, craftsmanship, and the timeless beauty found in both the world of horology and the world of automobiles.”
