A. Lange & Söhne to Sponsor the Audrain Newport Concours d'Elegance

As a well-known supporter of legendary classic car events, A. Lange & Söhne is now also entering into a partnership with a major automobile show in the US for the first time. From this year on, the eminent watch manufactory from Glashütte in Saxony, Germany, is to be title sponsor of The Audrain Concours d’Elegance. This contest for classic and rare cars will be held at The Breakers in Newport, Rhode Island during the Audrain Newport Concours & Motor Week – a four-day celebration of automotive excellence, luxury, and sport taking place from September 28 to October 1, 2023.

This fall, connoisseurs sharing an affinity not only for classic automobiles but also for exquisitely engineered mechanical timepieces will come together during the Audrain Newport Concours & Motor Week. Celebrating the elegance of mechanics, the finale crown jewel event – the Audrain Newport Concours d’Elegance – is to be presented for the first time by A. Lange & Söhne. It will take place on Sunday, October 1, 2023 at the spectacular seaside grounds of The Breakers in Newport, Rhode Island.

Having been sponsor to legendary car shows including the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este in Italy since 2012 and the Concours of Elegance at Hampton Court Palace in the UK since 2018, A. Lange & Söhne is proud to partner with one of the most important classic car events in the US. The Audrain Newport Concours d’Elegance presents fascinating synergies to the brand’s commitments in the domain of culture and a shared passion for classics, mechanical sophistication, and elegance. For A. Lange & Söhne, the shared passion is also evident in the freedom of expression, the independence to follow one's own path and the will to make the best possible use of time. This pioneering spirit runs like a thread through the rich history of the brand. More than 175 years ago, the manufactory’s founder Ferdinand Adolph Lange realized his vision of making the remote town of Glashütte the center of German fine watchmaking. His great-grandson, Walter Lange, continued this vision after the reunification of Germany by rebuilding the company of his ancestors and entering uncharted territories of watchmaking with traditional craftsmanship and innovative engineering skills.

“Classic cars and mechanical watches represent values that are important to us,” Lange CEO, Wilhelm Schmid says. “Cars represent freedom and independence. Watches symbolize the preciousness of time. We move and identify with them. This forms the basis of our partnerships in the classic car segment. We’re thrilled to expand our partnership within the US for the first time and to include the Audrain Newport Concours d’Elegance.”

“We are so pleased to partner with A. Lange & Söhne here at the Audrain as we share a respect and passion for history and craftsmanship which we believe is essential to be kept alive for future generations,” Audrain CEO, Donald Osborne states. “As Wilhelm Schmid and I both connect very personally with the energy of historic vehicles and special watches, it will be particularly rewarding to build this relationship in the unique atmosphere of the Audrain Newport Concours & Motor Week, a true celebration of ‘History, Luxury & Sport’ - the hallmark of Newport and the Audrain Automobile Museum. The possibilities are tremendous.”
