A. Lange & Söhne introduces two new timepieces at Audrain Concours 2025
The two expressions of pure elegance raise the bar in Lange's third year as presenting sponsor of the Audrain Newport Concours d'Elegance
The 2025 Audrain Newport Concours d’Elegance, held on the 5th of October 2025 on the grounds of the Breakers mansion in Newport, RI, delivered a fall classic featuring standout vehicles from some of the finest private car collections in the world. The world-class lineup was perfectly complemented by a finely curated selection of mechanical masterpieces from A. Lange & Söhne – including two new timepieces.
The Audrain Newport Concours & Motor Week allows participants and fans of the global Concours d’Elegance circuit to capture the splendour of autumn in New England. Since 2023, A. Lange & Söhne has been the presenting partner of the pinnacle event of the motor week, the Audrain Newport Concours d’Elegance, in which approximately 200 vintage automobiles vie for the Vanderbilt Cup-inspired “Best of Show” trophy.
Now in its sixth year, the Audrain Concours is widely considered the pre-eminent annual Concours d’Elegance on the U.S. East Coast. This year's edition culminated with the presentation of the “Best of Show” award on Sunday, which Lange CEO Wilhelm Schmid presented to the owner of an Alfa Romeo 8C 2300 Rimoldi Corto Spyder from the year 1933. Schmid also awarded the winners of the “30 Under 30” and “Timeless Elegance” categories, awards that are in line with the German fine watchmaker’s dedication to rare craftsmanship and to developing the next generation of enthusiasts and craftspeople.
The Audrain Concours represents a key brand experience pillar for Lange in the U.S., and particularly for the regional communities serviced by its New York flagship and Boston boutiques. “Each year, Lange friends in the region generously reserve some of their precious time to join us for the event. With them comes an extraordinary energy for fine watchmaking and for our watches,” says Schmid.
At the same time, Lange recognises that its sponsorship activation provides an opportunity to showcase an assortment of limited edition, core collection and recently debuted timepieces to classic car collectors and fans as well. “If you love the craftsmanship, design and heritage on view at a world-class Concours of Elegance,” offers Schmid, “it’s not so much of a stretch to say that you might find the same joy and sense of purpose in high-end mechanical watches.”
Two new timepieces in the spotlight
A. Lange & Söhne treated this year’s visitors to its latest debuts, two special editions of the SAXONIA THIN, one in 750 honey gold (HONEYGOLD®) and the other in 950 platinum, both with a jet-black, glossy onyx dial. With its design reduced to the essence and a slender, artisanally finished manufacture movement, the SAXONIA THIN radiates pure elegance. Each of the special editions is limited to 200 pieces. “With either version, one is perfectly dressed, day and night“, says Schmid, “offering one a refined daily wear that also makes a quietly bold statement.” The addition of a set of debuts from the Glashütte manufacture reinforced the central role that elegance and craftsmanship occupy at the Audrain Concours, and the watches added to the dynamic experience and allure of an ascending player in the global classic car concours scene.
